DA Seth Williams Talks To Northeast Philadelphia Students About Bullying
By Pat Loeb
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams stopped by a Northeast middle school on Monday to talk about a hot topic. He made the students "deputies" against bullying.
"I see it all the time, around everywhere, because it is everywhere, not just in schools," said Emily, a student.
Sixth-graders at Baldi middle school are already experts on bullying.
"Right now, cyber bullying is sometimes even more dangerous than physically bullying," said another student, Sasha.
But the district attorney brought a message he bets they don't hear enough.
"They are the most powerful people when it comes to stopping bullying. The most powerful person in the sixth grade is another sixth grader," Williams explained.
With that in mind, Williams enlisted them in his posse.
"I pledge, to prevent bullying, in all its forms, every day," the students said.
"For them to be able to check each other, to recognize when something is happening, and then to report it, is the most important thing," Williams said.
