Crunch Time
Saw on Twitter this morning that LPGA veteran Sophie Gustafson was hitting balls today with a Dorito chip between her teeth. The idea, of course, is to swing without breaking the chip, because a relaxed jaw helps keep the entire body free of tension. Alfredson tweeted "I didn't break it.. Hard part was to stop drooling on my shirt." Give it a shot, but bring your own bib.
AT&T Nat'l Update
If you had hoped Rory McIlroy might decide to come to Aronimink for the AT&T National, forget about it. In the wake of his US Open win, McIlroy said, "I'm going to take three weeks off, I think, get myself ready for the Open Championship." The (British) Open will take place at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, from July 14 to 17.
Tiger Woods technically has committed to play in the event, although some find it hard to believe that injuries serious enough to keep Woods sidelined for the US Open will have healed enough to allow him to play just two weeks later. But who knows? If Tiger wants to play in the British, he's going to have to get his game in tournament shape and the AT&T would provide that opportunity. He rarely plays the week before a major.
