Critical Match-Up With Red Bulls For Union

By Matt Leon

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union continue to jockey for the position in the top half of MLS Eastern Conference.

After beating D.C. United on Saturday, 2-0, Philadelphia has 37 points, which has them sitting 3rd in the conference, but they are just two points behind first place Sporting Kansas City. Sitting in between those two squads is New York and on Saturday Philadelphia will pay the Red Bulls a visit.

These two rivals have played twice already in MLS action this season. Back on March 30th, New York held off the Union 2-1 at Red Bull. But Philadelphia got revenge on June 23rd when they smacked New York 3-0 at PPL Park behind a pair of goals from Conor Casey.

Jack McInerney continues to pace the Union in scoring with ten goals, but Casey has surged to within one of his total after netting two more against D.C. McInerney actually hasn't scored since he netted the only tally in a 1-1 draw against Toronto back on June 1st.

Thierry Henry and Fabian Espindola pace New York with seven goals each.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Jonathan Tannenwald of Philly.com to review the win over D.C., talk about Casey's continued strong play and look ahead to the match-up with New York.
