Crews To Begin Towing Vehicles Inside Designated Papal Area This Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Parking Authority is laying down the law on what will happen if your vehicle is towed during the papal visit.
If your vehicle is parked illegally and is towed during the papal visit and the World Meeting of Families it will be in one of three facilities around Philadelphia.
"Our lot in South Philadelphia, Lemon Hill in Fairmount Park and possibly Delaware Avenue near Allegheny."
Richard Dixon says starting Sunday evening, vehicles parked in the restricted area without placards will be towed and owners will have to pay 75 dollars to get their wheels back.
Dixon adds that beginning Thursday the 24th, illegally parked vehicles will be towed, ticketed and impounded. The owners will have to pay a 76 dollar fine plus a 175 dollar tow fee.
"If someone parks near one of the event sites they should really look closely for temporary no stopping signs."
Dixon adds they have created spots in their garages for people with with placards, and they also have designated spots outside of the no park zones for residents who need to relocate their vehicles.
