Crews Rescue 7-Year-Old Girl From Schuylkill River In Montgomery County
UPPER PROVIDENCE, Pa. (CBS) - A 7-year-old girl is recovering after nearly drowning in the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County Sunday.
At about 2:30 p.m. Upper Providence Police were called to 400 Towpath after they received reports that a strong current swept a little girl away from where she had been swimming with family.
Police say the current carried the little girl approximately two miles down stream. She was in the water for about 20 minutes before members of the Phoenixville Fire Department spotted her near the Route 29 Bridge. Shortly thereafter, a boat crew from the Mont Clare Fire Company arrived and pulled the little girl out to safety and rushed her to an area hospital.
She is listed in stable condition.
