3-Alarm Fire In Kingsessing Displaces 70 People
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Crews battled a three-alarm fire in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia late Tuesday night.
The fire broke out at a vacant storage facility on the 5200 block of Pentridge Street a little after 11 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find intense flames and heavy smoke billowing from the roof. The fire quickly struck three alarms at about 11:30 p.m. It spread to 27 nearby row homes, causing approximately 70 residents to be displaced.
The American Red Cross set up a reception center at Anna Shaw Middle School at 5400 Warrington Avenue to assist those affected by the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The fire was placed under control at about 12:40 Wednesday morning and is under investigation.
Authorities say the facility is owned by Apple Storage Company and has been vacant since 2006.
