Covenant House Holds Biggest Fundraiser Of The Year, Brings In Broadway Stars

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A local shelter for homeless teens is holding its biggest fundraiser of the year Monday night.
Every year, Covenant House of Pennsylvania holds its "Night of Broadway Stars" where seasoned Broadway professionals perform live on stage with homeless youth who tell the story of how Covenant House changed their lives:
"People just have a fun filled night that they talk about until the next year," says executive director Cordella Hill.
She says last year the event raised well over $350,000 and they're hoping to get close to a $500,000 this year. She says the money is needed to ensure young people, 21 and under, have a safe place to live and a host of services.
"We provide basic services such as food, employment services, we connect you to educational services, we have a clinic. We try to wrap everything we have around them to try to help them get on their feet," Hill explains.
Night of Broadway Stars is hosted by Broadway composer Neil Berg. It takes place at the Kimmel Center Monday night. For more information, visit: covenanthousepa.org.
