Could London Fletcher Be A Free Agent Option For The Eagles?
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – NFL free agency begins Tuesday, March 13th at 4pm. Most of the talk has been about possible landing spots for former Colts QB Peyton Manning, even here in Philadelphia. Still, for the Eagles, the biggest hole is an obvious one.
"Well, it'd be a middle linebacker, shocking," Comcast Sportsnet's Ray Didinger told 94WIP's Angelo Cataldi and The Morning Team on Monday, when asked which position he thinks the Eagles should pursue first. "It would depend on what you were spending. But my guys would be Curtis Lofton, Stephen Tulloch, or if you wanted to spread the money out and maybe get a cheaper option and save some money for another position, London Fletcher."
Fletcher has spent the last five seasons with the Washington Redskins, and will turn 37 in May. Even at that age, Didinger thinks that Fletcher is a good buy. "It would be a short-term investment, it would be a short-term contract," he said. "What was the biggest short-fall on the Eagles defense last year? It was tackling, and it was football IQ, and it was leadership. And London Fletcher is all of those things."
Didinger said he's looked at the tape, and Fletcher is still productive. "He played as good last year as he's ever played, I just think he's one of those guys that's just indestructible. He's not a five year answer, but he's a one year answer.
