PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- School district leaders are watching tomorrow's frigid forecast as they decide whether to close schools for the day.
No decision has been made yet, but School District of Philadelphia spokesman Fernando Gallard says with morning temperatures forecast to be in the single digits, administrators are deciding whether school should be open tomorrow.
"We are looking at our facilities, our buildings, to make sure that they're ready for it. And also looking at transportation, to make sure that transportation is ready. So we're going to be looking at those items and also looking at how is that going to affect our children, our students that are going to walk to school."
Roughly 60 percent of Philadelphia public school students walk to school each day. The rest take yellow buses and SEPTA.
Gallard says that if school is open, bus drivers will be asked to report early to make sure their buses start up in the extreme cold.
The district has used two snow days so far this school year.
CBS Philly, CBS3, and KYW Newsradio 1060 will announce the Philadelphia School District's decision to close schools if and when it is made.
