Coroner Needs Additional Forensic Testing To Determine How Brother, Sister Died In Berks County
LEHIGH COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- The Lehigh County Coroner's Office says it needs additional forensic testing before it can determine how two children died in Berks County. Investigators say the children's mother found them unconscious in their home on Route 143 in Albany Township last Monday and rushed them to the hospital.
Four-year-old Brinley Snyder and her 8-year-old brother, Connor, were pronounced dead on Thursday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Authorities haven't yet said where the mother was before finding the children.
Neighbors say, since the incident, there are still too many unanswered questions, like was foul play involved? Did their mother have any role in their deaths? And exactly what caused both children to die on the same day.
"Makes you wonder, wonder what happened to them," neighbor Lawrence Raybert said, adding that "it's a sad case."
The Berks County District Attorney's Office says it's interviewing everyone who knew the children.
"We are just hoping, at this point, to find out some answers to help us understand what took place last Monday," District Attorney John Adams said.
Neighbors say a third child was not home when something happened to his siblings.
The father was not involved in the victims' lives.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community.
