Cops: Shooting Suspect Leads Police In Chase With Kids In Car
LANSDOWNE, Pa. (CBS) – A 37-year-old man was arrested after leading police on a chase from Lansdowne to Upper Darby Thursday afternoon.
According to police, the suspect shot a 19-year-old man while on the 200 block of Sheffield Street in Lansdowne.
Police chased the alleged shooter to Rigby Avenue and Baltimore Pike in Upper Darby where the suspect then crashed his car.
The suspect allegedly attempted to run away after the crash but then realized he left his 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son in the backseat of the car.
The suspect returned to the car to get his children and then attempted to run away again with a child under each arm, says police.
The suspect was arrested and the children were released to a relative; they were not harmed.
The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Police say a 45 caliber semi-automatic pistol was seized and the suspect is expected to be charged with attempted murder.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from a previous argument between the victim and suspect.
