Cops: One Man Robbed 3 Banks In 2 Hours in Bucks County -- In a Taxi!

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- A man is in custody after police in Bucks County say he allegedly committed three bank robberies this afternoon in three different towns, using a taxi to get from one location to another.
It all started shortly after noon, when the suspect identified as 26-year-old Luke Radick walked into the Sovereign Bank on Street Road in Bensalem. He handed the teller a demand note, and she ran away.
"Walked in and demanded through a note some money. He then panicked and fled the bank not getting anything," said Fred Harran of Bensalem Police.
Bensalem Township Police Sergeant Andrew Aninsman says the suspect pulled the same thing in Yardley, getting a little bit of money, then tried again in Morrisville.
"His means of transportation was he was a passenger in a cab, with a cab service, and actually, once the cab service realized what was going on after the third bank robbery they contacted called police," said Aninsman.
"Certainly we're not charging the cabby, but he finally woke up and realized this guy was out robbing banks," said Harran.
Authorities say after the cabby kick Radick out of the car, Bensalem Police saw him walking, recognized him from a surveillance photo and arrested him.
The three bank robberies took place before 2 p.m. Radick was back in custody by 4 p.m. The sergeant says Radick was released from federal prison a day or two ago.
While recovering and processing the evidence, police say it was found that the demand note for the Yardley robbery was actually written on the back of his bail release form.
Radick faces local charges of robbery and attempted bank robbery. Aninsman says he will also face federal crimes.
