Cops: Man Arrested In Connection With Road Rage Shooting On Blue Route
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (CBS) -- Police believe they have caught up with the man who they say risked a disaster by allegedly firing a gun at a moving car near a busy intersection of the Blue Route and the Schuylkill Expressway.
Authorities say Anthony Richardson, of the 1300 block of Pennington Road in Philadelphia, was arrested Wednesday morning.
Richardson made no comment and kept his face covered as state troopers brought him into the barracks to be processed and arraigned.
Richardson is charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing a shot into another vehicle on the busy lanes of the Blue Route approaching the Schuylkill Expressway six days ago.
The driver was not hit by the bullet, which pierced the passenger door and lodged in the center console.
State Police say a composite sketch of the suspect led to a phone tip helping to identify him.
Richardson, according to an arrest warrant, has an active Philadelphia gun permit.
The warrant claims he pulled alongside the alleged victim and opened fire after that driver had put on the brakes because Richardson was allegedly driving at an unsafe distance behind the car and driving erratically.
State Police say Richardson surrendered peacefully.
The arrest warrant says state police did receive reports that there had been a previous incident involving road rage and Richardson in which he was driving aggressively and pulled a weapon. However, the arrest warrant does not detail where or when that might have happened, whether there was an investigation and whether any charges were filed at all.
