Cops: Driver In Deadly Chester County Crash Had Blood-Alcohol Content Nearly 5x Legal Limit
DAYLESFORD, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in Chester County say the driver involved in a double fatal-crash earlier this month in Daylesford, had a blood-alcohol content nearly five-times the legal limit.
Investigators say 52-year-old Thomas McAleer was behind the wheel around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2nd, when his car flipped over and came to rest upside in a small pond along Glenn Avenue.
He and his 54-year-old brother, Michael McAleer, were both killed. The Chester County coroner's office lists cause of death for both men as drowning.
Tredyffrin Township police now say a toxicology report shows Thomas McAleer's blood alcohol level was .398 at the time of the crash.
The report also says he had THC in his system, the active ingredient in marijuana.
