Cops: Blood Trail Leads To Discovery Of Lucrative Pot Operation In Oxford Circle

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Investigators say a blood trail led them to the discovery of a million dollar drug operation in Northeast Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.
The discovery was made at about 1:30 a.m. inside a home in the 7100 block of Akron Street in the city's Oxford Circle section.
According to investigators, the incident began when witnesses told police a group of males wearing masks and armed with baseball bats attacked a male victim.
Police noticed the trail started on Eastwood Street and they followed it to the drug home on Akron Street. Investigators say the trail ended at the front door and they didn't find a victim inside the home.
However, they did find something that they were not expecting: marijuana, and lots of it.
According to investigators, they found marijuana wrapped in bales that was worth approximately $1 million dollars.
There was so much marijuana that officers had to use the trunk and back seat of a police cruiser to transport the evidence back to headquarters.
Police are currently searching for the owners of the home.
The incident remains under police investigation.
