Cooper River Park In Camden County To Get $20 Million Upgrade
By David Madden
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Camden County officials have plans to give Cooper River Park a major makeover.
It's a $20 million, five-year plan to make the park more user- friendly.
County Freeholder Jeffrey Nash says they've brought in the same Philadelphia architectural firm that designed the new Revel casino to put this plan together.
"They have spent several months analyzing the park, looking at it like an artist to repaint the park so that the aesthetics are better."
Phase one will focus on North Park Drive and the ball fields at Curtis Stadium. A public hearing and vote on the work is set later this month. They'll take out a bond, and use open space moneys to pay it off.
In time, there'll be better views of the river, with boardwalks and vista decks not to mention improvements to the river itself to cut down on occasional flooding in the park.
