PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police say a 60-Year-old 7-Eleven clerk was attacked during a robbery inside the Welsh Road convenience store.
Police say the clerk was hit over the head, tied up, and the two armed suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the store cash register and a quantity of cigarettes.
Police Chief Inspector Scott Smalls says, "He had plastic zip ties around his wrists. He was able to get one wrist free and call 911."
According to Police, two suspects entered the store around 2:45 a.m. and a man in a mask approached the clerk and the other suspect remained out of sight.
"The perpetrator with the gun was wearing a mask and made a statement to the clerk, 'Don't look at me' and then struck the 60-year-old store clerk in the back of the head."
Both suspects fled on foot but police say they are hoping surveillance will help them track them down.
The clerk was not seriously hurt and refused medical treatment.
No customers were in the store during the incident.
It remains under investigation.
