Consumer Report: Finding The Right Pillow
by CBS3's Jim Donovan for KYW Newsradio 1060
Does cost really matter when picking out a pillow? Not really.
Dr. Clete Kushunda is with the sleep clinic at Stanford University:
"Price really shouldn't factor in the equation because people can be satisfied even with a more cheaper pillow versus a more expensive pillow."
In a recent test by consumer reports magazine, 71 participants slept on the expensive and the not-so expensive versions of their favorite types of pillows: polyester, goose down and memory foam. But they didn't know which was which.
After ten nights, the result? Well in most cases they couldn't tell the difference.
So experts say just go with a basic rule of thumb when shopping for pillows, it should feel comfortable on your head, and support your neck.
