Consumer Report: Auto Recall Notification

by CBS3's Jim Donovan for KYW Newsradio 1060

While car companies are required to send safety recall notices to registered owners. That's easier said than done. "The fact is almost a quarter of cars on the road have not had recalls addressed by the owner. Often the car company doesn't know how to reach us because we've moved or the car has changed hands."

Trevor Traina is the founder of driverside.com, a free website where car owners can register for a notification anytime there's a recall:

"This website will tell you what the recall involves and help you find a dealer that can repair it for you."

Driverside.com also lets you manage your car's service history online, because these days it's important to "not" be on cruise control when it comes to your car's safety.
