Construction To Begin On Delaware Memorial Bridge
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Urgent construction is set to begin on the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Crews will be replacing three of the bridge's suspension ropes that are in close proximity to each other.
As a result, three of the four lanes will be closed for the next several days, with only the right lane open to traffic. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph and strictly enforced.
Once work is completed, the single left lane is expected to remain closed for the immediate future.
Motorists heading south on the New Jersey Turnpike or I-295 should expect significant delays and may want to seek alternate routes to their destinations.
Motorists are urged to be careful and stay alert in and around construction zones.
