Constitution Center Exhibit Spotlights 'The Boss'
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An exhibit featuring personal memorabilia from rock-and-roll legend Bruce Springsteen opens Friday at the National Constitution Center, on Independence Mall.
The exhibit includes guitars, childhood photos, and the spiral notebooks on which Springsteen wrote the lyrics to rock anthems including "Born in the USA" and "Born to Run."
The exhibit is on loan from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Curator Jim Henke says fans can even hear The Boss way before he was famous.
"We have some recordings of The Castiles, his first band that he joined when he was 14," Henke tells KYW Newsradio. "We have things from his audition for Columbia Records and things like that. So there are a lot of things you can hear here that people haven't heard before."
Constitution Center CEO David Eisner says the exhibit points to fundamental connections between artists and Constitutional freedoms. It runs through September 3rd.
