Villanova Conference Examines Technology And Spirituality
VILLANOVA, Pa. (CBS) - New technology is effecting nearly every aspect of our lives, so how about spirituality? A conference is being held Monday at Villanova University on that subject.
Villanova's Theology Institute is hosting the conference, and director Darlene Fozard Weaver says it will help examine some tough questions.
"For instance, we now have capacity to forge online religious communities which we didn't have in the past," Weaver said. "How does our understanding of God as our creator change now that we are able to begin life in a petri dish?"
Fozard Weaver says technology allows us to neglect given limits. However, she says the goal of the conference is not to condemn technology, but to foster a meaningful dialogue with people who sit at the boundaries of it.
