Compassionate Care Foundation Will Start Growing Medical Marijuana In Chesterfield Township, New Jersey
Philadelphia (CBS) - South Jersey's first medical marijuana farm is being set up in a rural portion of Burlington County. Hopes are to begin dispensing the drug before the end of the year.
The Compassionate Care Foundation was planning to take over a Bellmawr warehouse, but CEO Bill Thomas decided to change things to cut down on energy costs.
"It only had to do with finding a location that was suitable for us to put in greenhouses as opposed to going into a warehouse."
The recent wet weather will mean they'll start growing the marijuana in tractor trailers on a farm in Chesterfield Township so they can open up a dispensary by mid-December.
And he'll have more than enough clients, given he's taken a couple calls a day from people in desperate need of the drug. There'll be six dispensaries set up statewide, two in these parts, under what's considered to be America's toughest medical marijuana law.
