Community Group Not Pleased About Two Casinos On Delaware Waterfront

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - One of the proposed locations for a second Philadelphia casino would place it blocks away from the first one, Sugarhouse, on the Delaware River Waterfront. And a local advocacy group has concerns.
Steve Wynn's proposal to build a resort casino just a stone's throw away from Sugarhouse has the attention of the Central Delaware Advocacy Group or CDAG.
Chair Matt Ruben says they stand by their master plan of having positive riverfront projects.
"(It) embraces a more urban and a more human-friendly set of job creating, recreational, commercial and residential uses."
A casino, with a giant parking lot, naturally doesn't fit into their plan he says. And they want their opinion known whether Wynn's project gets approved or not.
"So we will make our voice heard, wherever it is possible to make it heard in whatever way it is possible."
And with Sugarhouse already there, Ruben says there was strong opposition in 2006-7 from various groups of building two casinos so close to together. Right now there are five other proposed sites for the second city casino license.
