Community Garden At Camden Riversharks' Stadium Will Be Tended By Local Teens
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - A new community garden just outside Campbell's Field will help teach some Camden, NJ teens about community service and entrepreneurship.
Rev. Floyd White, head of the Woodland Community Development Corporation, joined with the Camden Riversharks in a special ceremony today to introduce a new community garden outside the Riversharks' baseball stadium in Camden.
Throughout the summer, White says, the WCDC's Youth Group will be responsible for tending and harvesting the garden and selling some of the produce to the Silver Diner in Cherry Hill and the ShopRite supermarket in Brooklawn.
The rest, he says, will be distributed to needy families.
"I think at the end of the day we want to feed the folks in our community," Rev. White (below) told KYW Newsradio.
