Community Finds Renewed Sense Of Faith With 'A Different Kind Of Church' In Gloucester County
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) - At United Artists Movie Theatre in Washington Township New Jersey, something new and different is playing for hundreds of people with free admission to the non-denominational church called, "The Perfecting Church".
Every Sunday, a catered breakfast that includes donuts, bagels and juice is guaranteed to grab the attention of visitors who aren't used to such a setting.
"It's good because if someone is coming in from home and they didn't eat, this gives them a little snack so they can be comfortable," said member April Ward.
This church has only been operating out of a movie theater for four weeks. Attendance is at 300 people, according to Pastor Kevin Brown. Brown and his wife Angela say they recently broke away from their traditional church home to venture off and try something else.
"The majority of people that we know in their 30s, 40s, and 50s are kind of turned off from church now. They may feel as though it is a place they don't belong," said Brown who says he's been ministering for over 20 years.

At The Perfecting Church, Pastor Brown says everyone belongs. At his church, you can dress casually, eat during his sermon, which is only 30 minutes, and there's a special service just for children.
In all, the space used for the children and the adults costs $1100 to rent each week. Funding comes from churchgoers and through private donations.
