Comcast To Offer WiFi Hotspots To Customers Nationwide

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With laptops, smartphones and tablets, the expectation is 'Internet anywhere.' Now, Comcast is teaming up with other cable giants to offer free WiFi access when you're traveling out of town.
Comcast has more than 4,000 hotspots where you can jump online from Philadelphia to the shore.
With this agreement, "We have about 50,000 hotspots nationwide," says Kathy Avgiris, the executive vice president for communications and data at Comcast.
Avgiris says it's an expansion of a deal that has been putting its customers here on the web in the New York City area.
"You'll see 'CableWiFi.' That will enable you to access that WiFi hotspot using your Comcast credentials in Los Angeles," and in Connecticut, North Jersey, Tampa and Orlando.
The companies have found growth in high-speed Internet as they try to stop the bleeding of customers who are dropping cable service in favor of watching TV and movies online.
