College Hoops: Explorers Hope to Make it Two In A Row
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After smothering UMass on Sunday by 21 (see related story), La Salle University will play its final home game of the season on Wednesday night as they host Fordham.
Dr. John Giannini's team is 13-16 heading into this one, and 5-9 in the Atlantic 10. The Explorers' head coach says he hopes they can build off that win against the Minutemen.
"Certainly the plan is to try and finish strong," Giannini (right) told KYW Newsradio. "That's the only plan that everyone has at this time of year. So we are coming off a good game, and if we can put a couple together that would be exactly what we are looking for."

Fordham has really struggled this season: they are 6-20, and winless in 14 tries in Atlantic 10 play. Giannini says, however, they have a lot of talent that his team will need to neutralize.
"We need to defend their guards and especially try to keep them from making three-point shots. And the kid (forward Chris) Gaston is just a wonderful player. He averages 11 rebounds a game, which speaks to his effort -- just his motor, energy, and athleticism -- and he's just a very aggressive power forward," the La Salle coach notes.
After this match-up with Fordham, the Explorers will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they visit Temple in a Big 5 match-up.
