College Football: Penn State Tries to Stay Unbeaten in Big Ten, Hosts Purdue
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (CBS) - The Nittany Lions' defense continued its outstanding play last week, leading Penn State to a 13-3 win over longtime nemesis Iowa.
Penn State held the Hawkeyes to 35 points below their average coming in, and 253 yards for the game.
Next up for Penn State: those Purdue Boilermakers, who come to Beaver Stadium for a 12 noon kickoff on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions are 5-1, and now 2-0 in the Big Ten. They have allowed just 63 points in their six games so far -- 27 of those points coming in their one loss to Alabama.
Purdue is 3-2 this season, and they won their Big Ten opener last week, beating up on Minnesota, 45-17.
These two teams have not met since 2008, and Penn State leads the alltime series 10-3-1.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Mark Brennan, editor of FightOnState.com, about the match-up and how good this Nittany Lions defense really is.
