Basketball: Quakers Look to Snap Losing Streak

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After starting Ivy league play with a 3-0 record, the Penn Quakers have dropped four straight Ancient 8 games, and they will look to snap that streak tonight as they visit Brown.

This skid has been particularly painful for Penn because three of the four losses have come in overtime (including a double-OT heartbreaker -- see related story). However, head coach Jerome Allen says his team remains optimistic.

"I think from a practice standpoint we've responded very well. I think the guys are upbeat, and real eager to have another opportunity," Allen told KYW Newsradio this morning.

The Quakers have already beaten Brown once this season, capturing an 80-78 decision in (you guessed it) overtime at the Palestra, back on January 29th (see related story).

Allen says his team will need to be sharp to turn that trick again.

"They (Brown) are playing with such great confidence right now, particularly on the offensive end. They always have four shooters on the floor and they are deadly, and anyone can hurt you," he said.

Overall this season, Penn is 9-12. Brown is 9-13 and 2-6 in the Ivy League.

Penn will visit Yale on Saturday.
