Coldest Air Of The Winter Ahead

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Wednesday felt mild compared to what's ahead, as high temperatures reached the upper 30s, with sunshine and calm winds.
If you were outside today, you can also feel the sunshine this time of year getting stronger, it's equal to sunshine in late October. If you are a winter weather fan, you will love the forecast over the next several days and get ready for a cold Valentine's Day weekend.
Expect two clippers to move through and each will bring a shot of arctic air, with the coldest air of the winter late in the weekend along with wind chills below zero.
The first clipper will move through the region on Thursday bringing a few snow showers on Thursday. As the arctic front passes, gusty Northwest winds will kick up Thursday afternoon and usher in the first arctic air mass.
Low temperatures Friday morning will drop into the lower teens and single digits with below zero wind chills. It will remain windy on Friday with high temperatures struggling to rebound into the lower 20s.
The second clipper will be stronger and move through the Delaware Valley later on Saturday. Ahead of the system, a brief break from the cold will return on Saturday with highs not as cold in the 30s. Another arctic front will then move through later on Saturday bringing some more snow showers along with gusty winds Saturday night.
A colder arctic air mass will return for Sunday with highs stuck in the upper teens with wind chills below zero again. Sunday night will be the coldest night as low temperatures will drop into the single digits early on Monday morning. This would be the coldest air since January 2014.
