Cold And Windy Before Snow -- Yes, Snow! -- Expected On The First Day Of Spring
By Geoff Bansen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Winter just does not want to go quietly into the night.
Each of the next several days (except for Saturday) will be below average and are forecast to not make it out of the 40s! Starting with today, where continued breezy conditions will help it to feel even colder.
After a warm and windy St. Patrick's Day that saw the thermometer spike to almost 70 degrees, temperatures plummeted overnight. Wednesday will be 20-25 degrees colder. Winds will die down this evening, but expect another clear and cold night, with lows dropping into the 20s.
While it is technically still winter, this is not what many people want to hear with the official start of spring just a few days away. And while quiet weather is expected for the majority of the next week, we expect to ring in the spring season this Friday with (what else?) more snow!
While accumulations are looking small, it will still be a nuisance type of day. Philadelphia is going to be right near the rain/snow mix line. Southern NJ and Delaware can expect mainly rain, while areas to the north and west of the city may even see slightly higher totals. Regardless, this is going to be a wet snow - not great for shoveling but not optimal for quick accumulations.
Get here soon, spring.
