Coatesville Area School District Names Interim Superintendent
COATESVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania school district dealing with the aftermath of a text message scandal has named an interim superintendent.
The Coatesville Area School District board said Tuesday that New Jersey educator Leonard Fitts has accepted the post.
Last month, superintendent Richard Como and high school athletic director James Donato resigned amid allegations that they exchanged racist and sexist text messages on their district cellphones.
Chester County District Attorney Hogan last week said the school board was hindering prosecutors' investigation into kickbacks allegedly mentioned in the text message exchanges between Como and Donato.
Hogan also revealed that his office is investigating a law firm for possibly defrauding taxpayers by overbilling the district.
