Gosnell's Defense Attorney Puts Forth Closing Arguments

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The defense attorney for abortion Doctor Kermit Gosnell has told the jury during closing arguments there was a rush to judgment to convict the "House of Horrors" doctor, but the prosecution has not proven its case.
Gosnell is charged with five murders, including the murders of four babies allegedly born alive.
Defense attorney Jack McMahon has argued the babies were not born alive, and they weren't murdered by Doctor Kermit Gosnell, or anyone else. Mahon has highlighted evidence Doctor Gosnell used an accepted medicine to ensure in utero "fetal demise."
And McMahon has argued the signs of life -- a breath, a movement, a cry -- testified to by some witnesses were actually reflexes, involuntary spasms.
As for the death of a woman at the clinic during an abortion, McMahon says Karnamaya Mongar's death was an accident, as originally ruled by the Medical Examiner but later changed. McMahon says her treatment was no different than hundreds of others, but there was an adverse reaction.
He says it was an unfortunate, tragic, sad accident, but it wasn't murder.
