Giroux: 'No Doubt We're A Playoff Team'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- For the second straight season, Flyers captain Claude Giroux is promising his team will be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He's currently 1-0 in his playoff predictions.
"There's no doubt that we're a playoff team," Giroux told CSNPhilly.com. "We're going to prove it in the future."
The Flyers, 22-22-7, (51 points) are currently on the outside looking in. Despite their current four-game winning streak, the Flyers are still nine points out of a playoff spot.
Last season, after the Flyers' 1-7-0 start---which included the firing of then-head coach Peter Laviolette---Giroux said, "We'll make the playoffs." True to his word, the Flyers did in fact reach the playoffs, but were eliminated in Game Seven of round one by the New York Rangers.
G is currently fourth in the NHL in scoring with 52 points---16 goals and 36 assists. Giroux's teammate, Jakub Voracek, leads the NHL with 58 points.
The Flyers host the Islanders Thursday night at 7:00pm E.T at the Wells Fargo Center.
