City Of Wilmington Offices Closed Due To Inclement Weather
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Officials in Delaware are suggesting that drivers stay off the roads during a winter storm, particularly during the heaviest snowfall.
Delaware closed state offices Thursday and New Castle and Sussex counties closed county government offices. City of Wilmington offices are also closed. Kent County planned to open on time, but the liberal leave policy is in effect.
Gov. Jack Markell warns that roads may be clear during the morning rush, but heavy midday snowfall may mean a tough afternoon commute. Markell suggests drivers who don't need to travel stay off the roads to allow crews to work on clearing snow.
The National Weather Service is predicting snowfall of 4 to 8 inches across Delaware. State officials say it is already snowing in northern New Castle County.
