Church Youth Mentor Arrested, Charged With Sexual Assault
BARRINGTON, Nj. (CBS) -- A former youth mentor at a church in Camden County, New Jersey is facing sex crime charges in connection with his interactions with an underage male.
Police arrested 23-year-old Samuel Bangs on Saturday afternoon and charged the Bellmawr man with Sexual Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor and two counts of criminal sexual contact.
Bangs is accused of engaging in illegal sexual conduct with a juvenile male under the age of 16 at various locations, including public parks, over the past two months.
According to police, Bangs met the juvenile while volunteering as a youth mentor at Grace Bible Church in Barrington. At the time of the offenses Bangs was no longer a mentor to the alleged victim.
The alleged victim reported the incidents to police Friday.
