Christie Campaign Bus Tour Hits South Jersey

WASHINGTON Twp., N.J. (CBS) - With just five days before voters go to the polls, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is taking a campaign bus tour of the state, with several stops in South Jersey.
Over 200 people took in Christie's standard stump speech Thursday. He urged them not to take much comfort in polls showing he should breeze to a second term next week.
Christie cited what people are telling him at virtually every stop:
"'Oh, you've got it won Governor, don't worry about it.' That's what you are gonna help me make sure doesn't happen because it doesn't only matter for me. It matters for your senate candidate, your assembly candidates. It matters for the Freeholder candidates here in Gloucester County."
Gloucester County usually goes Democrat, but went for Christie four years ago. This time, he wants political coattails:
"We've gotta work hard," he said. "We've gotta turn out the vote and I need help in Trenton with more Republicans in the state legislature."
Pollsters suggest that's not likely to happen, but Christie says this election could mean a lot outside the state:
"Who would have thought this, right, four years ago that they'd be looking to New Jersey Republicans to give the national party a boost and show we can win again?"
The Governor will be back in the area over the weekend.
