Christie Among Many Attractions To Start Holiday Weekend Down Shore
By John McDevitt
OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Ocean City is always a popular destination for the long holiday weekend, and even though the sky was covered with clouds for a good part of the day Saturday, that didn't stop the fun.
Some brave beachgoers tell KYW Newsradio they dared to venture into the ocean:
"Oh it's cold but it's nice. We live for this."
"Yeah you got to get the courage to go out first, but, I mean, once you are in there it's a blast."
"I can deal with the cold."
"We Philly kids, we tough."
On the boardwalk, many were taking in the sights, sounds, and, of course, the tastes.
"Enjoying the boardwalk," this man said. "Got some pizza, now some ice cream and then it will be a complete day."
And hundreds were also waiting their turn to take photos and shake hands with Governor Chris Christie, who was in town.
"It's good to meet all of you! Have a great weekend," said Christie, who is visiting several Garden State shore points over the weekend.
