Chris Pronger Officially Joins NHL Department Of Player Safety
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The NHL announced on Friday that they will be hiring Chris Pronger to become a member of the league's Department of Player Safety.
The hiring is interesting in that Pronger is still technically a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. Injuries have made it clear that his career is over, but he is due to make $4 million this season and is on the books through the end of the 2016-2017 season.
Part of Pronger's responsibility with the league will have to do with determining player suspensions. Pronger certainly had a few during his playing days.
The move will not penalize or benefit the Flyers.
