PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has scored top honors in more pediatric specialties than any other hospital in the nation in US News and World Report's survey of Best Childrens' Hospitals.
"This year they (US News and World Report) ranked ten medical and surgical subspecialties in pediatrics. We were ranked number one in six of those ten, the most of any children's hospital."
CEO Dr. Steven Altschuler says CHOP came in first in cancer, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology. And, tied for the top spot on the US News Honor Roll of best children's hospitals.
"And what the patients and their family can now say is 'they have the best doctors, and they have all the other support services' that are truly necessary to make the experience the best it can be for the child and their family."
Dr. Altschuler says the latest honors are in keeping with the hospital's 157 year history of excellence.
