CHOP Ranks Among The Best Pediatric Hospitals In Nation According To New Rankings
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It is no secret in Philadelphia that the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a fine institution for pediatric healthcare. We hear it all the time.
However, did you know it ranks among the best hospitals for children in the country? If you didn't, the 2016-17 U.S. News and World Report Best Children's Hospital National Rankings should inform you.
The list ranked children's hospitals within ten specialty areas. Among the ten areas examined, CHOP ranked in the top 3 in eight of the ten categories.
CHOP ranked No. 1 in Diabetes and Endocrinology, No. 2 in Neonatology, Urology and Orthopedics and No. 3 in Cancer, Cardiology and Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology and GI Surgery and Neurology & Neurosurgery.
According to CHOP, the rankings placed them at No. 2 overall.
"To be ranked among the top pediatric hospitals is an honor, which reflects our commitment to provide the optimum care for every child and family we serve," said Madeline Bell, president and chief executive officer of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, in a statement. "The level of clinical excellence among the hospitals evaluated makes our inclusion gratifying and I am proud of our dedicated and talented physicians, nurses and clinical support staff for their efforts on behalf of our patients," she added.
