Chip Kelly Named NFL's 5th Most Influential Person
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Chip Kelly and his incredibly fast offense, healthy regiment, and efficient practices was named by Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com as the fifth most influential person in the NFL today.
Kelly improved the 4-12 2012 Eagles to 10-6 in his first season as head coach, earning a home first-round playoff game---a game in which he lost on a last second field goal. Kelly's offense was ranked second in all of football last season.
Of Kelly, Kirwan writes, "He's incorporated a new faster tempo for the game to be played, as well as innovative ways to train and utilize nutrition. With no previous NFL coaching experience he led the Eagles to the division title in his first year."
The four people ahead of Kelly on the list, in descending order, include: Judge Anita Brody, Robert Kraft, Dean Blandino, and Roger Goodell. Defending Super Bowl champion coach, Pete Carroll, is sixth on the list. That makes Kelly, according to Kirwan, the most influential on-field person in the NFL today.
