PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Whether the Kansas City Chiefs or Philadelphia Eagles has a better record this season remains to be seen. Regardless of whether their teams play well, the head coaches of both teams have bank accounts that are performing very well.
Andy Reid and Chip Kelly both appear in a recent Forbes list of the top ten highest paid coaches in American sports. Reid, who was fired as head coach of the Eagles in January and was hired by the Chiefs days later, is tied for second on the list with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick with a 2013 salary of $7.5 million, and Kelly is 9th on the list and will make $6.5 million in his first year as an NFL head coach.
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton tops the list who will earn $8 million in 2013. Eight of the coaches in the top then are NFL head coaches, and the remaining two spots on the list are NBA head coaches Doc Rivers (Celtics), and Gregg Popovich (Spurs).
