Deliveryman Shot During Robbery In Northeast Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for three suspects they say shot a deliveryman in Northeast Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police believe this was an ambush and now a man is fighting for his life, simply because he was doing his job.
The man was delivering a food order to a home Tuesday evening on the 6200 block of Kindred Street in Oxford Circle.
According to police, the home is vacant and was used as a cover for the robbers.
The man, who is 60-years-old, arrived just after 7:30 p.m. to deliver the food from a restaurant in the 6700 block of Bustleton Avenue. That's when, it is believed, three men, one armed with a rifle or shotgun, robbed him.
"This is clearly a robbery of a Chinese food deliveryman. He was lured to a vacant property. That's where he believed he was to deliver Chinese food. When he went to that location, he was robbed and then for some reason shot by one of these three perpetrators," Chief Inspector Scott Small said.
The man was shot once in the chest. He was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
The shooter is only being described as a male who was last seen wearing dark colored clothing.
The incident remains under investigation.
