11-Month-Old Boy Killed, 3 Others Injured After Wilmington House Fire
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A house fire in Wilmington has left an 11-month-old child dead while three other residents, including a 3-week-old baby, were also injured.
Officials say the fire broke out on the 400 block of West 23rd Avenue around 7 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, crews quickly located 59-year-old grandmother Fay Hyland, 11-month-old Maurice Williams, and 3-week-old Isaac Williams on the second floor of the residence.
Hyland was rushed to the Christiana Hospital in critical condition with burns to 70 percent of her body. She was later transferred to the Crozer-Chester Medical Center's Burn Unit in Upland, Pennsylvania.
Isaac and Maurice were rushed to the Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children. Maurice passed away due to his injuries last night.
Isaac Williams was transferred to the St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and is listed in critical but stable condition.
A fourth resident, 17-year-old Nashon Hyland, jumped from his second-floor bedroom and escaped before the fire department's arrival. He is listed in stable condition.
