Child Among 3 Flu Deaths In Montgomery County
LOWER MERION, Pa. (CBS) -- Three people have died from the flu in Montgomery County since mid-December and that has county health officials again calling for people to get a flu shot to protect themselves.
Influenza infections have killed a two-year-old boy from Lower Merion, a 32-year-old woman from Upper Merion and just last Monday, a 24-year-old man from Norristown.
Health officials say the child and the woman did not have any underlying conditions which is why they strongly recommend the flu shot.
Health Department spokeswoman Harriet Morton says you should get checked out if you're not feeling well.
"The first thing they should do is see their health care provider to make sure that they do have the flu," said Morton. "The health care provider can do a test, they also want to stay home if they feel sick."
The symptoms can include fever, cough, fatigue and a sore throat and headache.
Morton says flu shots are available and county residents can get theirs at the health department clinics in Norristown, Pottstown and Willow Grove.
