Cherry Hill Police Bust Drug Operation At Exxon Station On Route 70
CHERRY HILL, NJ (CBS) - A month-long investigation in Cherry Hill lead to a drug bust at a gas station where police arrested the store owner and a manager.
Concerned residents were telling Cherry Hill police about a certain problem at the Exxon at Route 70 and Springdale Road.
"We had a lot of complaints from parents about kids being able to buy this synthetic marijuana," explains Lieutenant William Kushina. "We went in there undercover and made some purchases. (We) sent those purchases to the lab and the lab came back positive."
Police executed a warrant Friday night and arrested store owner Ahsan Azhar, 27, of Mount Laurel and manager Kelly Robinson, 44, of Oaklyn.
Kushina says police also found more than the fake marijuana they were looking for.
"All kinds of pills: oxycodone, percocets, a good amount of regular marijuana, a good amount of powder cocaine. There was also an imitation firearm that was there under the counter with the drugs."
Both suspects face charges of drug possession, intent to distribute, and with Camden County College across the street, intent to distribute in a school zone. Preliminary hearings are set for December 6.
