Cheltenham H.S. Trainer Pleads Guilty To Molesting Female Student

CHELTENHAM, Pa. (CBS) -- A former athletic trainer at Cheltenham High School in Montgomery County today admitted in court that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl at the school last year.
On the day his trial was scheduled to begin, Ramon Cintron pleaded guilty to "institutional" sexual assault and corruption of a minor, both felonies.
Prosecutors and the defense negotiated a 20-40 month sentence in state prison followed by three years' probation.
Montgomery County prosecutor Noah Marlier say the 30-year-old married father of two touched the girl and sent inappropriate text messages. And he says the jail time was warranted:
"This was an athletic trainer, a teacher, a person that the community trusted, that the victim's parents trusted, that the victim trusted. And he betrayed that trust."
Marlier says it was the defendant's own words in those text messages and a recorded phone conversation that led to his downfall.
Cintron had been employed by an outside agency and was contracted to Cheltenham. His bail has been revoked while he awaits formal sentencing.
