Checkpoints Removed From Atlantic City Expressway, All Lanes Now Open
ATLANTIC CITY (CBS) -- Traffic along the Atlantic City Expressway was backed up for miles Friday as home owners at the shore worked their way to the barrier islands.
Police were stopping every vehicle before Exit 5 confirming people had proper identification and documentation proving they are home owners in Brigantine, Longport and Ventnor. The Eastbound lanes of the Expressway were also closed at Exit 5 and drivers were routed off of the highway.
At 10 a.m., the mandatory evacuation order in Atlantic City was lifted, the checkpoints were removed and the AC Expressway eastbound reopened at Exit 5.
